四国でシェイプまた世界的にも有名なBIGWAVER Yoshihiko Kushimoto氏の1st. Exhibition in Japanを湯島聖堂にて6月７・８・９と行われました。1本1本まさに氣が入り単なるサーフボードというだけでない何か口では言い表せないものを感じ、ついつい長くいました。

パワーとパワーのぶつかり合いのような雰囲気を感じさせながらも妙に静かなエキジビジョンで、台風の前の静けさのようでした。

“Everything is custom order. It is not just cookie-cutter type of a board. Every board has special soul and sprits.”said Mr. Kushimoto the owner, shaper,and big waver at KI surfboard.

By the way the word “KI” means “sprit” in Japanese.

Mr. Kushimoto had a difficult time to find a place to do this first KI SURFBOARD EXHIBITION IN JAPAN. Finally he chose the place one of very historical temple in center of Japan .

Because of holy place, I guess it was difficult to negotiate with people in Temple (he did not tell anything about)
Well, Mr. Kushimoto successfully explained his “sprit” and his surfboards to people in Temple and people in his EXHIBITION.

This is the first time for me to see such exhibition in Japan . There are some recent nice exhibitions like “fish fry,” “Anything But Three,” and so on. I really wanted to see Japanese surfboard (made in Japan ) exhibition.

I think this is a cool way to describe Japan and culture through the surfboards.
